Years ago, when I first read the expression “You are what you eat,” I thought it made a lot of sense. When the thought hit me a couple of days ago that “You are what you think,” I thought, well, of course. I’m baffled that I’ve never read that somewhere before. Surely, I’m not the first to come up with it.

I think it’s especially true in troubled economic times like these. You might recall before the economy careened off a cliff a lot of people were excited about “The Secret.” It was a popular book and video that promised people if they just think they were rich, then they’d become rich. Complete nonsense, of course; it’s amazing that so many bought into it. Well, the economic collapse certainly sealed the doom of that crazy notion. So, understand, that’s not what I’m talking about when I say “You are what you think.” We live in the real world and there are consequences in global economics, politics and all other endeavors of mankind that determine, to a large extent, our fate.

But we do have some control over our future. Some of us get knocked down and keep getting up. Some of us don’t. If you think there’s a reason to get up and work for a better future, there most likely is a better fate waiting for you. If you lie still, believing there’s no reason to get up and that things won’t improve, then it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy, isn’t it?

That’s what I mean by “You are what you think.” Thinking of something, spurs us into action to bring it to reality. Thinking there is hope, brings that hope alive. Envisioning success in any endeavor, whether it’s related to work or to spiritual fulfillment is the primary step on the journey to make it true.

If your thoughts are positive, your outlook is positive and your life will most likely be a positive one. If your thoughts are negative…well, enough said.

I hope you like the design I came up with. I like the simple word puzzle your brain is forced to solve before you can read it.

The squares were painted traditionally in acrylic on watercolor paper, scanned into the computer and the letters applied in Illustrator using their “artistic” brush set.

Yep, sales time. The design is available at one of my Zazzle stores as everything from note cards to T-shirts. Click HERE if you’re interested.
